DiscoverX
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026 · Developer: Zoltán Tóth (Dexterlabs)
DiscoverX helps you discover places around you anywhere in the world. This policy explains exactly what the app does with data. It is deliberately specific rather than generic, because the honest summary is short: DiscoverX has no user accounts, no servers of its own, no analytics and no advertising.
1. What we collect about you
Nothing. There is no sign-up, no login and no user profile. We operate no servers and receive no data about you, your device or your usage.
2. Location
With your permission, the app uses your device's location to show what is around you. Location is used in two ways:
- Precise location (GPS/Wi-Fi), if you allow it. Used only while the app is in use. It is never recorded, never stored on the device beyond the current session, and never sent to us.
- Approximate location from your IP address. So results can appear immediately at launch, the app may make one request to
ipwho.is, which returns a rough city-level position. Like any internet request, that service sees your IP address.
You can refuse or revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings. The app still works: it falls back to the approximate location, or you can search for any city manually.
3. Services the app contacts, and what they receive
To show live information, the app queries public services directly from your device. These requests contain the coordinates or place names needed to answer them, plus the technical information any internet request carries (such as your IP address). They do not contain your name, your device identifier or an account, because the app has none.
| Service | Why | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
OpenStreetMap / Overpassoverpass-api.deoverpass.kumi.systemsoverpass.openstreetmap.ruoverpass.private.coffee | Places, opening hours and facilities | A search area (coordinates or bounding box) |
Nominatimnominatim.openstreetmap.org | City and country search | The text you typed |
| Apple Maps (MapKit) | Place search and map display | Handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy |
Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, Wikidataen.wikipedia.orgcommons.wikimedia.orgwww.wikidata.org | Photos and descriptions of notable places | Coordinates or an article title |
Open-Meteoapi.open-meteo.com | Current weather | Coordinates |
Frankfurterapi.frankfurter.dev | Exchange rates | A currency code |
| ipwho.is | Fast approximate location at launch | Your IP address |
Each of these operates under its own privacy policy. We have no agreement with them, receive nothing from them, and pass nothing to them beyond what a single query needs.
4. What is stored on your device
All of the following stays on your iPhone or iPad and is never uploaded. Deleting the app removes it.
- Favourites — the places you save, including a copy of their photo, so they work with no connection.
- Offline city packs — places you chose to download for offline use.
- A small summary for the widgets and Siri — such as how many places are open nearby and the nearest cash machine — stored in a shared app group so the Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets can display it.
- Settings — for example whether you have seen the welcome screens.
5. Purchases
DiscoverX offers an optional premium upgrade: a weekly subscription, a monthly subscription, or a one-time Lifetime Access purchase.
All payments are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see or receive your payment details, card number or billing address. The app asks Apple only whether a valid purchase exists for your Apple ID, so it can unlock the premium features. No purchase information is sent anywhere else.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel them at any time in your App Store account settings.
6. Analytics, advertising and tracking
There are none. DiscoverX contains no analytics framework, no advertising SDK, no crash-reporting service and no third-party tracker of any kind. The app does not track you across other apps or websites, and there is no identifier that could be used to do so.
7. Children
DiscoverX is a general-audience travel app. It does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal information at all.
8. Your rights
Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to export, correct or delete. Everything the app stores is on your own device and under your control: remove individual favourites or downloaded cities in the app, revoke location access in iOS Settings, or delete the app to remove all of it at once.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
